art contest we hosted was such a success we want to have another one this year.
Here are the rules and other general information.
Our Lady, our example, our Blessed Mother
This year ARCH will be hosting an art contest for homeschooled children. The art contest was such a success last year that we are looking forward to seeing what new and beautiful works of art are presented. This year we will turn our focus to Our Lady. Children and families may enter with artwork depicting Our Lady under one of her many titles.Rules:
-- Your family must be an ARCH member to participate; if you are not currently a member the deadline in order to participate in the contest is April 22th. To check on your membership status contact Terry Arnold at tlarnold(at) sbcglobal( dot)net. You may download a membership form at:
http://www.arch- homeschool. org/uploads/ registration. pdf
-- The artwork should depict an image of Our Lady. The title of the piece and the name of the artist should be written on an index card and not on the artwork itself. Each submission will be assigned a number so the judges will NOT know who the artists are.
-- We will accept sculptures, clay work, needlepoint etc. Size of the pictures and other art forms should not be larger than 17” by 11” (Ledger Size paper). Please see below for additional sizes in the Family Category.
-- Any medium is accepted. Please do NOT frame the pictures.
-- Artwork will be accepted in the gymnasium of the Jerabeck Athletic Center at the University of St. Thomas from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on April 29. Please contact Catalina Brand at cbrand5592(at) yahoo(dot) com to register your artwork and to coordinate an alternative delivery time if the above is not convenient.
***All artwork must be pre-registered in order to be entered in the contest.***
-- The entries will be judged by a panel on Saturday April 30th and the winners will be announced during the lunch break at the conference.
Categories
There will be 4 categories according to age.
-- Little Saints, 5-9 year old.
-- Junior Saints, 10-13 year old.
-- Saints, 14-18 year old
-- Families - Marian Shrines: This is our first year to offer the family category. Families are asked to create a piece of artwork depicting a Marian Shrine. The artwork can be 2 or 3 dimensional. We ask that it be well supported if 3 dimensional. The maximum size allowed is a 40" x 20" base.
Prizes
The winner in each category will receive a $20 gift certificate from Texas Art Supply.
Special Auction: This year we are excited to offer the artists the opportunity to donate their artwork to a silent auction that will be held on Saturday afternoon. The proceeds from the auction will benefit St Dominic's Center.
Please indicate at the time of registration if you would like your artwork included in the auction.
