On Christmas Eve, young Pip, an orphan being raised by his sister and her husband, encounters a frightening man in the village churchyard. The man, a convict who has escaped from a prison ship, scares Pip into stealing him some food and a file to grind away his leg shackle . . . .
So begins Charles Dickens’ epic novel, “Great Expectations“, which follows the life of Pip from youth to manhood, the fascinating characters he meets, and the mystery of an unknown benefactor. One of Dickens’ greatest novels, this wonderful FULL HOUR audio dramatization is a real treat. This version of Dickens’ classic tale was originally broadcast on NBC’s University Theater on January 1, 1949. Enjoy!
